Getting Started Guide

Choosing a companion

Start by reading two or three profiles. The difference between them is temperament rather than subject matter, and most people find one voice sits better with them than the others.

Opening the conversation

You do not need an opening line. A companion will begin, and answering honestly gets you somewhere more interesting than testing them does.

Shaping the reply

Ask directly for what you want: shorter answers, more questions, a different language, a lighter mood. Jaumo companions adapt within the same conversation and keep the adjustment afterwards.

Building continuity

Mention the things that recur in your life. Those details come back later, and that is what turns a series of chats into an ongoing one.

Storytelling sessions

For fiction, set the scene in two sentences and let the companion write the next paragraph. Take the story back whenever you want to change direction.

Knowing when to stop

Close the tab when the conversation has served its purpose. Good company knows when an evening is over.
